The 12th Annual Scots-Irish Festival
The Scots-Irish Festival, taking place in Downtown Dandridge, Tennessee on historic Main Street is in its 12th year and continues to be a huge attraction for lovers of Scottish and Irish culture including food, music, dancing, storytelling, and much more! This event, which will include amazing entertainment and activities for the whole family, takes place on Saturday, September 29th, 2018. So, don your kilt and sporran, and meet us in downtown Dandridge, TN for some Highland fun!
Scots-Irish Music Line Ups
With two stages, the Highland Main Stage and the Lowland Stage, Celtic inspired musicians and entertainers from across the U.S. will perform throughout the competition, including:

· Irish Step Dancer Katie Carver & Her Students (Maryville, TN)
· Highland Dancer Claire Macmillan & Her Students (Chattanooga, TN)
The Pipe and Drum Band playoff competitions will start at noon, and you’re the judge on who will take home the Best Band Award! This is the 5th Annual Pipe & Drum Band Challenge and the Knoxville Pipes & Drums will be facing off against the North Georgia Pipes & Drums as well as the Nashville Pipes & Drums band. After the competition these bands will perform for the festival’s Ceremonial Parade beginning at 4:00pm.
Scots-Irish Family Fun
The 12th annual Dandridge Scots-Irish Festival will have something for everyone in the family that include:
· The old-time children’s playground and children’s activities,
· Dog parade
· Music and storytelling programs
· Highland cattle and black faced sheep exhibits
· Sheepdog trials
· Professional storytellers and humorists
· Ale Garden sponsored by Cherokee Distributing
· Saturday Evening Ceilidh (Concert) on Loch Douglas
In addition, there will be traditional Scottish and Irish foods, as well as American favorites. Scottish and Irish merchandise and craft vendors will also be set up along main street throughout the festival.
Explore Your Scottish and Irish Heritage
The Scottish Clan and Heritage Society exhibits, and Highland Clan booth will give you the unique chance to learn more about your Celtic family history. The Scottish Clan and Heritage Society will offer a unique trip back in time from the original Scots-Irish who settled Dandridge in 1783. Mr. Roger Kelley of Dandridge, TN will also be in attendance showcasing histories on the Civil War in the Jefferson County region as well as an exhibit on Civil War uniforms.
Highland Games Demonstrations
The Highland Games Athletic Demonstrations are another popular attraction for individuals no matter what their heritage is. If you’ve ever wondered how highland games athletes toss those enormous cabers or the technique used for the hammer throw or stone put, this is your chance to learn from one the Game’s biggest stars, Rand Gratz, Lt. Col. (USAF retired).
