On Saturday, June 9, 2018, Glenmore Mansion with The Glenmore Preservation Society and local A.P.T.A. Chapter will be hosting an event to commemorate its 150th year. The event will be held from 10:15AM to 4:00PM and will consist of historical lectures, live music, house tours, and more!
The morning activities include a program emceed by Jefferson County Historian, Bob Jarnagin. The program will highlight the history of Glenmore Mansion and introduce visiting Branner and Jarnagin descendants. The morning program will last approximately 1 ½ hours and will conclude with the cutting and serving of a birthday cake to celebrate Glenmore’s 150th birthday.
Lunch will be available through a local vendor beginning around 11:30AM; however, table and chair availability will be limited so it is suggested visitors bring their own camp or folding chairs for seating.
Afternoon events will include several simultaneous activities that will begin around 1:00 PM and conclude at 4:00 PM. Here’s a list of events:
· Self-Guided Tours of Glenmore Mansion
· Storytelling Circle in Glenmore Parlor with different personalities sharing every thirty minutes from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
· Live bluegrass music on the stage at 1:00p.m., 2:00p.m. and 3:00 pm.
· Sons of the Confederacy Civil War encampment with historical memorabilia
· Daughters of the Confederacy in period dress will be on the grounds to share information and provide photo opportunities.
· Confederate Uniform Collection on display with local historian Roger Kelley
· Historical Exhibits, Local Information and Books for sale by

o The Jefferson County Historical Society
o The Jefferson County Genealogical Society
Barbara Aston-Wash, noted Knoxville News Sentinel Journalist, will be present for a book signing in the Glenmore Dining Room from 1:00PM – 3:00PM. Her book, Bless Her Heart, is a historical novel chronicling the life of Ellen McClung Berry, who was instrumental in securing Glenmore from the Jarnagin heirs and engaged in its early restoration, interior decorating, and opening of the site as a house museum in 1972.
Admission of the morning program, parking, and afternoon events and tours of Glenmore will be free! Lunch provided by the local vendor will have a cost associated with it.
