Equestrian Facilities in Jefferson County
The Lakeside of the Smokies is home to some of East Tennessee’s best equestrian facilities. Wether you’re coming to compete or just to watch the show, you’re guaranteed to catch some talented riders.
River Glen Equestrian Park
Horse enthusiasts journey to New Market’s River Glen Equestrian Park each year to compete in horse trials of various disciplines. River Glen’s rolling hills, woodlands, and pastures stretch 200 acres along the Holston River. There are 84 permanent stalls at the privately owned facility. River Glen hosts its own horse shows and also leases the facility to equestrian groups.

Chestnut Hill Horse Show
Each year in June, the Chestnut Hill Volunteer Fire Department hosts the Chestnut Hill Horse Show. It’s a two day event that draws the attention of serious equestrian enthusiasts and everday fans and supporters. This longstanding event is a charity event in support of the Volunteer Fire Department and is support by the community at large.

Walter's State's Great Smoky Mountain Expo Center
The Expo center has played host to tens of thousands of horse enthusiasts. The Expo is well-appointed with a 98,000 square foot pavillion, 300′ x 150′ show ring, seating for 3900, 4 horse barns, 408 horse stalls, and 22,000 sq. ft. covered warm-up ring.
