JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Visit Jefferson County, TN, in partnership with Bushtec Safari and the Wyldstay brand, proudly announces the grand opening of Wyldstay Smoky Mountains, a new luxury glamping retreat overlooking Douglas Lake and the Smoky Mountains. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on November 14 to celebrate this transformative $1.5 million investment in Jefferson County’s growing visitor economy.

Wyldstay Smoky Mountains marks the newest addition to the expanding Wyldstay portfolio, a national brand created by Bushtec to bring together world-class outdoor craftsmanship and immersive lodging experiences. As the global leader in luxury safari tents and canvas structures, Bushtec Safari developed the Wyldstay brand to introduce high-quality glamping destinations across the United States. With successful locations already operating in Greenville and the Grand Canyon, Wyldstay plans to broaden its footprint to as many as 10 locations within the next five years.

A Local Vision Elevated by a National Brand

While Bushtec created and leads the Wyldstay brand, the Smoky Mountains location was founded locally by Cody and Bridget Farmer, who partnered with the Wyldstay team to bring the concept to East Tennessee. Their love for the peaceful beauty of Douglas Lake and the Smoky Mountains laid the foundation for the retreat, which builds on their original glamping venture that began with just four tents. Now elevated by the resources, design excellence, and global craftsmanship of Bushtec Safari, Wyldstay Smoky Mountains stands as a full-scale, luxury outdoor destination.

“Creating Wyldstay Smoky Mountains has been a dream rooted in our love for this land,” said founders Cody and Bridget Farmer. “Partnering with the Wyldstay brand and Bushtec Safari allowed us to bring that dream to life at a level we never imagined. We’re excited to share the tranquility of this place with guests from near and far.”

A Strong Economic Boost for Jefferson County and East Tennessee

The opening of Wyldstay Smoky Mountains represents a significant economic milestone for Jefferson County. The $1.5 million investment is expected to stimulate substantial visitor spending, benefiting local restaurants, retailers, and attractions across East Tennessee. The new resort also enhances the county’s lodging offerings, supports job creation, and strengthens regional tourism connections.

Strategically positioned between Jefferson County’s peaceful lakeside communities and the high-traffic tourism areas of Sevier County, Wyldstay Smoky Mountains is poised to extend visitor stays and encourage broader exploration throughout the region.

“Wyldstay Smoky Mountains is a powerful example of how innovative partnerships and thoughtful development can elevate our entire visitor experience,” said Lauren Hurdle, Director of Tourism for Jefferson County. “Bushtec’s globally recognized leadership in luxury outdoor accommodations, combined with Cody and Bridget’s local dedication, has resulted in a truly remarkable addition to Jefferson County. This project enhances our destination, supports our economy, and helps us share the very best of East Tennessee with travelers.”
