National Professional Fishing League Military Classic

The National Professional Fishing League (NPFL) is bringing its inaugural Military Classic to Douglas Lake, September 23–25, for three days of competitive bass fishing, camaraderie, and recognition of those who have served our country.

Hosted by Jefferson County and the State of Tennessee, this special event is designed around the NPFL’s strong connection to the military community and will welcome up to 200 two-angler teams to compete on one of East Tennessee’s premier bass fisheries.

Unlike a traditional NPFL professional tournament, the Military Classic is an amateur team competition for eligible members of the military community, including active-duty service members, National Guard, Reserve, veterans, retirees, and qualifying dependents. Teams will compete over three days on Douglas Lake, with a five-bass daily limit and a tournament format designed to put angling skill and teamwork to the test.

The competition will also have a distinctly old-school feel: forward-facing/live sonar will not be permitted, putting the focus on traditional fishing skills, knowledge of the water, and each team’s ability to adapt to fall conditions on Douglas Lake.

More than a fishing tournament, the NPFL Military Classic is an opportunity to bring anglers together through a shared love of the outdoors while recognizing the service and sacrifice of America’s military community.

Come experience the excitement of tournament fishing on Douglas Lake and help Jefferson County welcome competitors and their families for the first-ever NPFL Military Classic!
