The Mossy Creek Foundation will host the inaugural Creek Fest on May 29–30, 2026 in the historic Mossy Creek District, bringing a dynamic, two-day celebration of outdoor recreation, local culture, and community spirit to the heart of downtown Jefferson City.
Designed as a signature event for the region, Creek Fest will feature a full schedule of activities including a 5K walk/run, the inaugural Duck Race, live music, food trucks, artisan vendors, beer garden, and family-friendly programming. While the festival centers around Mossy Creek, the public is also welcome to independently enjoy the waterway and float the creek at their leisure, offering a unique opportunity to experience the outdoors in the heart of downtown.
Set against the backdrop of the historic Mossy Creek District, the festival reflects the growing momentum and revitalization of downtown Jefferson City. The Mossy Creek Foundation has played a central role in transforming underutilized spaces into vibrant community assets while fostering economic development and preserving the area’s rich heritage.
“Creek Fest is a celebration of everything that makes this community special. Our people, our natural resources, and the progress we’ve made together,” said Tommy Clapp, President of the Mossy Creek Foundation. “Over the past several years, we’ve seen incredible revitalization in downtown Jefferson City, and this event is a way to bring people together to experience that energy firsthand while continuing to build momentum for the future.”
Saturday’s activities will kick off with the Creek Fest 5K, guiding participants through scenic areas of the Mossy Creek District, followed by the much-anticipated Duck Race, an official fundraiser supporting the Mossy Creek Foundation, where participants can watch as hundreds of ducks launch into the creek and float at their leisure toward the finish. Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy live music, a vibrant vendor market, and interactive activities that are fun for the whole family.
More than just a festival, Creek Fest underscores the Foundation’s mission to reimagine and revitalize historic downtown Jefferson City, creating gathering spaces, supporting local businesses, and celebrating the cultural legacy of Mossy Creek for future generations.
“Events like Creek Fest are vital to sustaining the momentum we’re seeing in downtown,” Clapp added. “They showcase what’s possible here and invite others to be part of that story.”
Creek Fest 2026 is expected to draw participants and visitors from across the region, further positioning Jefferson City as a destination for outdoor recreation, community events, and authentic small-town experiences.
