Jefferson County, Tennessee, is fortunate enough to be home to two beautiful disc golf courses that make for the perfect outdoor activity. The two courses, David W. Barger Disc Golf Course located in Jefferson City and Dandridge Elementary Disc Golf Course in Dandridge, offer people from near and far a great opportunity to get outside for just a couple hours. Disc golf can be enjoyed by everyone, young and old folks, locals and visitors, experienced players and beginners.

David W. Barger Disc Golf Course
The David W. Barger Disc Golf Course on Mossy Creek in beautiful Jefferson City, Tennessee is the newest addition to the county’s disc golf offerings. This 18-hole course is maintained by Carson Newman University and opened in 2023. The course is made up entirely of par 3 holes, but don’t let that fool you, as each hole is unique and challenges its players to try new shots. It totals 5,034 feet.
The course is situated around Mossy Creek and visitors to the course get the chance to explore the park and historic creek area. David W. Barger, the eponym of the course, is a Carson Newman alum and dedicated Eagle. He worked for the university for over 3 decades, filling various positions within the athletic department, including being the Athletic Director for 22 years. The course was designed by his grandson and Carson Newman student, Taylor Kilgore.

The address is 740 Davis Street, Jefferson City, TN, 37760. From Carson Newman, turn down the road by the tennis courts and follow it to the bottom of the hill, where you will find parking for the course.
Hole 8, Dandridge Elementary Disc Golf Course in Dandridge, TN
Dandridge Elementary Disc Golf Course
The Dandridge Elementary Disc Golf Course can be found on the elementary school campus right off of Highway 92 in Dandridge, Tennessee. The course has a total of 18 holes, with 9 baskets and 2 tee boxes per basket. This makes it extremely easy to play a 9-hole round if you are short on time but still want to enjoy the wonderful East Tennessee weather and scenery. The course opened in 2011 and was designed by Danny Matthews.
This disc golf course is very family-friendly and children can even use the school’s playground. It is located at 780 South Hwy 92, Dandridge, TN, 37725. You will find Dandridge Elementary School on the left coming from I-40, follow the road up to the parking lot and you can find the first tee box in the trees across from the school gymnasium.
Tournament Level Disc Golf Courses
Bonus! David W. Barger Disc Golf Course recently helped host the Tennessee State Disc Golf Championships, a 3-day tournament with 560 total players! This is the first tournament the course has hosted, with hopefully many more to come.
