Jefferson County is home to two lakes: Cherokee Lake along the north of the county and Douglas Lake along the south. Each lake is unique in what they offer those who visit it. While here, we hope you take advantage of at least one of the lakes, or maybe even both as they’re just a short drive apart.

Cherokee Lake in Jefferson City, TN
With a backdrop of rolling hillsides, Cherokee Lake provides visitors with a picturesque vacation setting. The lake is great for boating, swimming, and fishing.

You won’t hear me disagree, although the weather can throw a few curve balls in East Tennessee this time of year. Playing on our lakes is one of both the locals’ and our visitors’ favorite past times. Fortunately, we have many conveniently located free public boat ramps on both Cherokee and Douglas Lakes.
